In random mode the draw decides who plays together. No standings logic, no seeding — just the four players on a court, split into two teams anew each round. It is the most relaxed of all formats and needs no explanation courtside.
How the draw works
Four players on a court can be split into two pairs in exactly three ways. Random mode picks one of them.
Good tournament software does not draw blind: it favours the split that has come up least often in this group. A stable four then plays all three combinations before any duo repeats — pure chance would keep throwing up the same pairing.

Promotion and relegation despite the draw
The courts stay a hierarchy: winners move up one court, losers move down. Only the team split within a court is random.
An order still emerges over the evening — win often and you end up on court 1, whoever you were drawn with.
Scoring is individual: the team's points count for both players. Across several rounds the luck of the draw largely evens out.
Who random mode suits
Sociable groups where nobody wants a format explained, and groups of similar ability where every pairing works.
It suits mixed abilities less well: there the draw often decides instead of the play. Mexicano is the fairer choice in that case.
Four to eight rounds is a good range. The more rounds, the better chance evens out.

Can you be drawn with the same partner twice?
It is possible, but Racketmaster favours combinations that have come up less often in this group. In a fixed four, all three splits come up before any repeats.
